On Tuesday, December 12th, students from Richmond Senior High School and the RC Ninth Grade Academy hosted an art show at the Cole Auditorium. An array of pieces were on display, including 2D, 3D, portraits, sculptures, and paintings. The drop-in style show attracted a crowd of many, and attendees were also invited to vote for their favorite pieces from each grade level.

Morgan Cauley took Best in Show for 9th grade. Our 10th-grade winner was Annika Carpenter, followed by 11th grader, Emily Harris. And Best in Show for 12th-grade was awarded to Caleb Dickens!

Shortly after the visual art show, the Raider Concert Band and Raider Guitar Ensemble performed, Sleigh Ride, On a Catalonian Carol, and Christmas "Pop" Sing-A-Long under the direction of Mr. Mike Ward, with the assistance of 11th grader, Christopher McDonald who led, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

Erin McNair led the Raider Holiday Bell Choir, Women's and Men's Choir(s), and the Raider Concert Choir. Students performed songs such as White Christmas, Agnus Dei, and Heaven Everywhere. Former director, Debbie Price, joined the Raiders (both present and former) on stage for an interactive audience performance of Peace, Peace. And the combined Raider Chorus closed with a special rendition of Silent Night.

Congratulations to every student who worked hard to have their pieces displayed at the 2017 Winter Gala Art show, and to our Raider Concert Band, Holiday Bell Choir, Guitar Ensemble, Women's Choir, Men's Choir, and Concert Choir!

A special thank you to Ms. Andrea McIver, Mr. Mike Ward, and Mrs. Erin McNair. We are simply blown away by the amount of talent within Richmond County Schools, and the amount of time and dedication that our teachers put forth to produce such excellence.

After receiving feedback from various retail outlets and concerned parents, the Richmond County School Board has decided to allow navy bottoms for the 2017-2018 School Year.

According to some parents, eliminating navy would create a hardship and an additional year would allow them time to phase navy out of their children’s wardrobes.  Businesses echoed having an extra year would help them as well because fall clothing had already been ordered.

All other changes to the Uniform Policy  will take effect this Fall.

Beginning with the 2018-2019 School Year, all bottom garments must be khaki or black in color.

With a full month behind us, the district is off to a fantastic start for the 2015-2016 School Year!  Between our Richmond County STEM Transformation Kick-off, AGORA Hackathon Winners and World School Milk Celebration, its been one busy month here at  RCS!  That being said, be sure to check out this month's edition of The Green and Gold to catch up on anything you may have missed.  And, if you're not already doing so, follow us on Social Media!

In every Senior Class, there is a handful of dynamic leaders that sets the standard higher for the rest – in conduct and achievement, in the classroom, and in extracurricular activities.  They may be active in traditional activities such as student government, clubs, and the arts, or they may have ventured out into new or less established areas.  In either case they have added to the positive spirit of our school and community.  Without them, the Senior Class would have less luster.  It is from this elite group that Richmond Senior High School has selected its Morehead-Cain Scholarship Nominees.

Representing the Class of 2016, RSHS’s nominees are:  Ibrahim Henson, Hailey Mason, Ashley Oldham and Angela Chen.
