On Thursday, September 6, 2018, Superintendent Dr. Cindy Goodman announced that Richmond County Schools had been named #1 in North Carolina for Math I with test scores averaging at 81.3 percent proficiency. 

Director of Math and Science, Kelly Delong said “We have worked diligently over the last five years in order to make sure that we work collaboratively so that students can increase achievement, and today was the fruits of the labor for some very hard-working teachers and some great kids we have in Richmond County.”
