Members of the Rockingham Lions Club are happy to announce the Trey Singleton, a junior at Richmond Senior High School, is now a state winner in the North Carolina Lions, “Celebrate Liberty Essay Contest.” 

Singleton’s essay was based on a quote by one of the one of the Founding Fathers of the United State, Alexander Hamilton, “The people have incontestable, inalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government and to reform, alter, or totally change the same when their protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness require it.” He will receive all all expense pair trip to the N.C. Lions Club State Convention in Greensboro.

The convention is scheduled to take place in late April where Singleton will read his winning essay and receive a cash prize of $500.
