Each school in Richmond County is staffed with a full-time school
counselor. Counselors are available to speak with students about a
variety of topics including careers, feelings, interpersonal relationships
or other concerns that may impact the student's ability to fully access the
curriculum. Families are always welcome to contact the school counselor
to seek support for any issues outside of school that may be adversely
impacting a student's sense of well-being or mental wellness
during the school day.

Reporting suspected child abuse, neglect or dependency is the responsibility of everyone.
North Carolina requires “any person or institution who has cause to suspect that any juvenile is abused,
neglected, or dependent… or has died as a result of maltreatment” to make a report to the county department
of social services where the child resides or is found.
Click here for an online course to learn how you can spot the signs of child maltreatment.
If you need resources or referrals about anything early childhood, reach out to our
partners at Richmond County Partnership for Children.
They can provide at home resources, family training opportunities,
day care information or other valuable information to
families caring for young children.
You can reach them at 910-997-3773.
