Cory Satterfield was re-elected as chairman of the Richmond County Board of Education, and Bobbie Sue Ormsby was re-elected as vice chairman during the board’s June 30 meeting. Both will continue in the leadership roles they held over the past year.

The two longtime educators, both retired principals, bring years of school-level and board-level experience to their positions. Satterfield is now in his third year of service on the board, while Ormsby has served for eleven years.

Their re-election comes as the board prepares for another year of major decisions, including long-range facility planning and continued efforts to support students and staff across the district.

“I appreciate the confidence my fellow board members have placed in me,” Satterfield said. “We’ve got important work ahead, and I’m committed to doing what’s best for our students, our staff, and the Richmond County community.”

“I’m honored to continue serving in this role,” Ormsby said. “I’m grateful for the trust of my colleagues, and I look forward to supporting our schools and working together to help every child succeed.”

Board of Education members are elected to four-year terms. The chairman and vice chairman are selected annually by a vote of the board. The board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. in the boardroom at the Richmond County Schools Central Office, with additional quarterly work sessions scheduled throughout the year.
