As required by North Carolina law, all students in grades 6–12 will receive information and resources to help them recognize and respond to abuse, neglect, and other inappropriate conduct. On the 5th day of school, Richmond County Schools will provide an informational document and share a video developed by the NC Center for Safer Schools and Capitol Broadcasting. These materials are designed to help students understand warning signs and know how to respond if they or someone they know may be in danger. Parents may preview the materials in advance and have the option to opt their child out before the 5th day of school. Please take time to prepare your child for this important information and speak with them about the seriousness of the topic. Misuse of the reporting system or intentionally making false reports may result in disciplinary and legal consequences.
