Thanks to support from the North Carolina Arts Council’s Grassroots Arts Program, students in grades K–12 across Richmond County Schools experienced a variety of live performances and cultural workshops this year. Nearly every school in the district hosted events, bringing in professional artists to share meaningful, educational programs.

From interactive performances like Freedom Songs and FrankenSTEM to cultural residencies with Living Rhythms and presentations by Black Box Dance Theater, students were introduced to diverse forms of storytelling, movement, music, and history. These experiences sparked excitement and curiosity while reinforcing important topics from the classroom.
“These events brought the arts to life in a way that connected with students across all grade levels,” said Angela Gallagher, Director of Student Services. “They created space for students to learn, reflect, and see the power of creative expression.”
We’re grateful to the North Carolina Arts Council for making these events possible through the Grassroots Arts Program.
