Maintenance

Our Mission

The Richmond County Schools Maintenance Department employs nineteen mechanics and one administrative manager, with Steven King serving as the Maintenance Director. The Department handles all aspects of maintaining buildings, mobile classroom units, and grounds.
 
Work to maintain safe classroom and building facilities includes:

  • Carpentry (including ceiling. walls, floors, windows, doors and keying.
  • Plumbing (including lift stations).
  • Electrical (including fire alarms site lighting. and sports field scoreboards)
  • Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (including boiler and chiller replacements, controls and energy management systems)
  • Food Service (all kitchen equipment)
  • Audio/Visual equipment repairs (including smartboards, overhead projectors, televisions, CD players, and cable TV) 
  • Janitorial Equipment supplies, repairs and service
  • Lawn and garden equipment and service 
  • Painting (including asbestos encapsulation. mold and mildew treatment, moisture control, graffiti, and lead paint removal and encapsulation
  • Grounds maintenance (lawn care, bush hodging, tree and brush, fencing. and pressure washing.)

The objective of the maintenance department is "to provide the optimum quality and quantity of service, safely, timely and at the most reasonable cost."
