Communications

We encourage respectful and constructive discussion; however, all comments are subject to review by RCS moderators. Comments will not be edited or screened for viewpoint, but RCS reserves the right to remove any comment that includes:

• Points unrelated to the purpose and subject of the main post. Comments should be relevant to the original topic. Those wishing to discuss other school system matters should contact the appropriate school, central office administrator, or Board of Education, or sign up for public comment at a regular Board meeting.
• Complaints, concerns, or confidential information about individual students or employees. To protect the privacy and due process rights of students and employees, RCS handles such concerns confidentially. Concerns regarding students should be directed to the student’s teacher or school administrator. Concerns regarding employees should be directed to the school principal or appropriate supervisor. Other board policies, such as Bullying and Harassing Behavior policy and the Responding to Complaints policy may apply in specific circumstances.
• Advertising or promotional materials.
• Copyrighted content posted without permission from the copyright holder.
• Comments that do not meet reasonable standards of civility and decorum.
• Words that constitute a criminal act or encourage criminal activity.
• Fraud or defamation.
• Personally abusive language intended to provoke a violent response.
• Statements that present a serious and imminent threat to any person’s health or safety.
• Threats of violence.
• Any illegal content.

Comments that do not meet reasonable standards of civility or decorum may be removed. These social media pages are used by students, many of whom are minors, to stay informed about school events and activities. Students should not be exposed to comments likely to cause them emotional distress or that would be inappropriate in the school environment. Discussions should remain respectful, even in disagreement, and commenters should avoid personal attacks, inflammatory language, or disruptive behavior that detracts from meaningful conversation.

RCS is not responsible for and does not necessarily endorse or oppose any comments made by users on our social media pages. Commenters are solely responsible for their own statements and are urged to use good judgment, including but not limited to the expectations outlined above.
