Richmond County Schools serves approximately 7,700 students at 18 schools in the areas of Dobbin Heights, Ellerbe, Hamlet, Norman, and Rockingham, North Carolina. Our students are served by 7 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, 5 secondary schools and a school serving students with severe disabilities.

Richmond County is situated in the heartland of the Carolinas, centrally located just 70 miles east of Charlotte, 90 miles southwest of Raleigh and 75 miles south of Greensboro. Richmond County is 477 square miles wide, making it the 38th largest of North Carolina's 100 counties.

The county is best known for its mill and railroad heritage, location to major golf resorts, racing, outdoor recreation and much, much more. Close-knit neigborhoods and small town charm are the core of what makes Richmond County a family-friendly location and a wonderful place to raise and educate children.
