Our Mission

The Curriculum Department exists to support the efficient and effective delivery of instructional resources and services that schools need to ensure student success. The Curriculum Department is responsible for specific curriculum areas, such as mathematics, language arts, science, social studies, and health. The instructional program in the Richmond County School System is based on the Standard Course of Study as prescribed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Our mission is to provide students with a strong academic foundation in order to support lifelong learning through:
  • Demonstrate instructional leadership.
  • Ensure curriculum alignment.
  • Provide documents to clarify state and local curriculum.
  • Identify exemplary teaching practices and provide purposeful professional development to school-based instructional partners.
  • Collaborate with school-based instructional partners to provide students with a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Creating an inviting work environment where people are productive and want to be.
  • Developing relationships that ensure student success.
  • Ensuring consistency, efficiency and effectiveness of curriculum resources, services and programs.
